Letter to the Editor: Government
Some Things Are Not The Responsibility of the Government.

Dear Editor,

In regards to your comments about “Same-sex Marriage issue belongs in legislature”, I wish to offer a different point of view based on principle. Some things are not the responsibility of government. When the concern is about a private or personal matter as abortion, health care, or homosexual issues, government does not have the right to tell people how to live their lives. Who really knows what is right or wrong? Maybe there is no right or wrong. Judgment, opinions, attitudes, and beliefs are the focus, not individual freedom to be true to themselves.

Libraries, roads, postal service, currency for exchange, and the ability to defend out country are the only government responsibilities necessary. Government is for providing services when a single citizen cannot accomplish the task without community. This allows people to take responsibility for their own actions and face their own consequences without outside influences. Natural law keeps us on the ball and is the best way to learn.

Tolerance, courtesy, kindness, and love work better than laws of man. It is time to allow people to live their lives and end this control of personal freedoms.
