Letter to the Editor: Education
Attitudes, Philosophy About Education Must Change

Dear Editor,

The state does not need to keep pumping money into the education pit. The real problem is a need to shift philosophy and attitudes about education. Allow students to blossom and develop as the creative, intuitive, imaginative people they are. Testing suppresses any personal spirit. When legislation including No Child Left Behind supports the importance of indivuality and administrators allow the teachers to teach for life and living in a society that encourages free thinking, money will not be the issue. From 50 years of teaching experience, I see education taking the wrong road.

Money does not change students. Positive attitudes and permission to create are the missing elements. That does not need money. Children change and will bloom and shine with a change in values. Four of the five wealthiest men in America did not finish high school. Their creative drive found avenues to success.
